The Hot Club of San Francisco’s “Meet Me in Paris” Brings An Evening of Romantic Gypsy Jazz to The Alden

McLean, Va.—The Alden in McLean welcomes The Hot Club of San Francisco (HCSF), an ensemble of accomplished musicians that celebrate the gypsy jazz music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli and French vocalist Isabelle Fontaine, for a single performance at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tickets are $35 for the general public; $20 for McLean tax district residents. The theater is located inside the McLean Community Center at 1234 Ingleside Ave. Parking is free and abundant.

HCSF borrows the instrumentation of violin, bass and guitars from the original pioneering Quintette du Hot Club de France while breathing new life into the music with new arrangements of classic tunes and original compositions by lead guitarist, Paul Mehling. Featuring the silken violin of GRAMMY
® Award-winning Evan Price, the velvet vocals of Isabelle Fontaine and a swinging rhythm section, the group never fails to surprise and delight.

In “Meet Me in Paris,” the group has created a charming concert evoking the romance, charm, and vivre of Paris. The guitar-and-strings sounds of 1920s and ’30s gypsy jazz combine with a French chanteuse to recreate Paris and La Belle Époque right in The Alden! Audience members can keep time with the strum of guitars and let magical violin melodies take them on a ride down the Seine and through the heart of the city. Fontaine’s mix of sweet and sultry songs adds a touch of beauty and authenticity that echoes the historic Ville-Lumière, “the City of Light.” Selections may include: “Ain’t Nobody’s Business But My Own,” Stardust,” “La Foule,” “Sous Le Ciel de Paris,” “I Got It Bad” and of course, “Le Vie en Rose.” The San Francisco Chronicle called the Hot Club, “...one of the most cohesive and entertaining Gypsy swing bands in the United States.”

Tickets are on sale now. For more information or to purchase tickets online, visit: www.aldentheatre.org or call 703-790-0123, TTY: 711.
