McLean Community Center Calendar of Events for May 2016
McLean, Va.—The McLean Community Center offers the following activities in May. Residents of the Center’s tax district, Small District One A-Dranesville, are eligible for discounts on fees. Unless otherwise indicated, all activities will be held at the Center, which is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
MCC Governing Board Election Meet the Candidates
Sunday, May 1, 2-4 p.m.
The Friends of the McLean Community Center organization is sponsoring this informal reception to allow members of the public to meet and ask questions of the 16 candidates currently running for seats on the Center’s 2016-2017 Governing Board.
Jammin’ Juniors Concert Roger Day
Wednesday, May 4, 12:30 p.m.
Free admission; free parking at MCC McLean Central Park Gazebo, 1468 Dolley Madison Blvd. Bring your lunch and listen to some tunes! Join us for a free lunchtime concert for children ages two to five and their families. A two-time Parents' Choice® Gold Award winner, Roger Day has worked with such artists as the Indigo Girls, Nanci Griffith and The Crickets (Buddy Holly's legendary band). His skilled musicianship combines with his wit and wordplay to create a musical experience that parents enjoy as much as their kids.

ArtsPower’s newest musical portrays the colorful story of Marge and Lola, two barnyard chickens on a mission to win the barnyard talent contest first prize of two tickets to see the great Elvis Poultry in concert! But first, they must present a performance that will score higher than a flock of very talented ducks who seem to have the contest locked up. Can Marge and Lola face their challengers, against all odds, and win the talent contest?

Concerts are free and open to the public; tickets are not required. This dynamic young Boston-based piano trio has established itself as one of the most creative, communicative and exhilarating ensembles in the U.S. today. Concerts at the Alden, a free classical music series, now in its 40th season, features professional musicians who have won international recognition for their artistry. The series also includes Young Soloists Recitals that showcase the talents of local school-age musicians.
