High School Student-Artists Can Win $1,200 by Competing in the James C. Macdonald Fine Arts Scholarship Competition

Application Deadline Has Been Extended to Monday, Feb.6

 

McLean, Va.- High school students are invited to showcase their artistic achievements in the 2017 James C. Macdonald Arts Scholarship Competition. Sponsored by The Alden, this competition encourages artistic development and promotes study of the arts. The deadline to apply for this year's competition is Monday, Feb. 6.

 

The competition is open to ninth through 12th grade students who reside or attend school in Dranesville Small Tax District 1A. A $1,200 scholarship prize will be given to first-place winners in each of the following categories: Dance, Theater, Vocal Music and Instrumental Music; second-place winners in all four categories will receive $800; third-place winners each receive $400. There are no restrictions on the use of the award money. Finalists must be present and prepared to perform in a preliminary round the week of March 13, and at the final competition on Wednesday, Mar. 29, to be eligible to receive an award.
