NYC’s Acclaimed Aquila Theatre Co. Joins Forces with Former Military to Perform D.C. Premiere of “The Trojan War: Our Warrior Chorus”
Single Performance on Saturday, April 1, at The Alden in McLean

McLean, Va.—The Alden in McLean presents the famed Aquila Theatre in the D.C.-area premiere of “The Trojan War: Our Warrior Chorus.” This unique production features American combat veterans, who will perform alongside Aquila company members for a single performance at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 1. Tickets are $35, $25 for veterans and current military and $20 for McLean Community Center tax district residents. The theater is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Classic myths of ancient Greece and Rome are set against the compelling narratives of modern war. “The Trojan War” incorporates Aquila’s distinctive theatrical style of combining superb acting with expert movement, original music, innovative design and groundbreaking direction. Gripping stories of modern war will be woven into the narrative of the ancient myths in a multimedia format that uses live action, film, bold projections and thrilling music.

The Warrior Chorus is a National Endowment for the Humanities-funded program that brings together men and women who have served in the United States military and trains them to the highest level in the performing arts and humanities. Critical social issues including war, conflict, comradeship, home and family are addressed, as are timely and compelling questions on modern democracy. What does democracy mean? What kind of democracy do we want to live in? How do we preserve and protect the democracy we have? Never have the classic spoken more strongly to modern audiences.

The New York Times called Aquila “...a classically trained, modernly hip troupe.” The New Yorker said, “The classics made relevant with superb acting and clever staging.”
