The Old Firehouse Teen Center offers members two FREE programs during after-school hours. To become a member or to renew a membership, see Membership and Policies

After School Program
FREE!  Members only.
Charges may apply to field trips.
Monday-Friday, from 2:30-6 p.m.

The After School Program is available to Teen Center members only. It includes transportation from Cooper and Longfellow middle schools, snacks, homework help and supervised activities. Activities include games, crafts, cooking, movies, field trips, computer time and more. A monthly activity calendar is posted on the Old Firehouse Teen Center page to help you plan.

Teens are expected to abide by the Teen Center rules.

Transportation for Cooper MS:  Cooper MS students are picked up by Teen Center staff in a large white van at Kiss and Ride. Students should arrive at Kiss and Ride promptly after dismissal.  In 09-10, late bus days are Monday (4:00), Wednesday (4:30) and Thursday (4:30).  On those days, Cooper students must call the the Teen Center by 3:00, at 703-448-8336, to request a late pickup.  We will only send a van for late pickup if we get a request before you start your after-school activity so we can be there when you get out.

Transportation for Longfellow MS:  The bus numbers for the 10-11 school year will be posted when they are available. Longfellow students take Bus #53 to the Teen Center. Late bus days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Members who wish to come to the Teen Center after their school activities should take late bus LR01 to the Old Firehouse.

Teens on a field trip

Field trips are listed on the activity calendar. The trips marked with a "$" are $10 per person to cover fees and transportation, unless otherwise noted. Cash payements and checks made payable to Old Firehouse Teen Center will be accepted at the Teen Center no later than the date of the trip. The sign-up sheet for field trips will usually be posted at the Teen Center on the Monday of the trip week. Teens may sign up in person, by phone at 703-448-8336 (TEEN) or by E-mail to Deanna.Holz@fairfaxcounty.gov. Most trips will be limited to the first 20 people on the list, but we will accept a waitlist. Trips will be cancelled if there aren't at least six participants. These fun trips are popular! If your plans change, please be courteous and let us know so someone else can go. On days your teen is on a trip, they should be back to the Teen Center by 6 p.m. for pickup. If your teen needs to be picked up earlier, he/she may not be able to attend the trip.

Do you enjoy helping your community or need to earn community service hours? The Old Firehouse Teen Center is committed to helping teens develop character, build confidence and foster community awareness. The Teen Center provides a variety of supervised opportunities and transportation from Cooper and Longfellow middle schools. Some activities are offsite and teens may not be back until 6 p.m.  Please do not plan to pick up your teen early.

 Examples of previous activities are:

  • Lewinsville Senior Center offers opportunities for active adults to make friends, stay on the move and learn new things. Teens participated in games and held a Halloween costume parade.
