McLean Community Center’s 2017-2018 Governing Board Takes Pledge of Service anD Begins Business


06/9/17, McLean, VA—Members of the incoming McLean Community Center Governing Board met for the first time on Wednesday, June 7, and elected officers for the 2017-2018 Board year. The Center is one of only two Fairfax County community centers funded by residents of a special tax district. Its Ingleside Ave. facility is currently under renovation. Temporary administrative offices are located at 6631 Old Dominion Dr.   

Supervisor John W. Foust led all members of the board as they took a first-ever annual pledge of service, which was followed by a pledge signing ceremony. Members pledged to support the mission of the Center and Executive Director George Sachs and to comply with applicable laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and Fairfax County Ordinances, among other tenents.


The new board then held its first meeting and elected officers by acclamation for the year. Laurelie Wallace was re-elected chair of the board for a second year; Paul Kohlenberger was elected vice-chair. Desi Woltman was elected secretary, and Merrily Pierce was elected treasurer.
