McLean Community Center Calendar of Events for December 2017

McLean, Va.—The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers the following activities in December. Residents of the Center’s tax district, Small District One A-Dranesville, are eligible for discounts on fees. The Center’s Ingleside Ave. facility is closed for renovation; the locations and addresses for these activities are included in the descriptions.


The Old Firehouse Family Events

The area’s hottest professional teen improv troupe will perform hilarious comedy routines that are suitable for the whole family.


McLean Traveler Day Trip  Celebrating the Holidays Lewes—Delaware
Saturday, Dec. 2, 6:45 a.m.-8 p.m.

For Christmas 2017, the 44th Annual Christmas Tour of Lewes, sponsored by the Lewes Historical Society, will be a self-guided tour of both public and private homes. The people of Lewes pride themselves on tradition and historic preservation and it truly shows in their decorating skills. Some houses date back to the early 18th century. The Alden
“Home Alone” (PG) Quote-Along Movie
Saturday, Dec. 2, 2 p.m.

Admission and popcorn are free. Prop bags are $5 each.

Eight-year-old troublemaker, Kevin, must protect his home from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left home alone by his family during Christmas vacation. The antidote to “sit-still-and-be-quiet,” The Alden’s Quote-Along Movies are audience-participation adventures, complete with props, subtitles and onscreen cues. The best part? Even if you’ve never seen the movie, you’ll have a blast!


Old Firehouse Family Movie Night
“Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” (PG)
Friday, Dec. 8, 7-9 p.m.

$3 per person. Preregistration is recommended.

Gather the whole family and bring your blankets, pillows and camp chairs for our indoor, picnic-style family movie night. Participants will enjoy unlimited free popcorn with the movie, which will be shown on a large projection screen.

Indoor Go Karting

Timeline Arcade & Turkey Hill Experience

Go back in time to the start of video games at Timeline Arcade. Timeline Arcade is the largest retro arcade in the U.S., hosting games such as; Galaga, Killer Instinct, TMNT, Space Invaders, Mortal Kombat and more! End the day with a sweet treat at the Turkey Hill ice cream taste lab, where you can invent your own flavor.


Bowling & Movie
Thursday, Dec. 21, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Roll as many strikes as you can at Uptown Alley! Lunch will be provided at the bowling alley. Afterwards, the group will relax at the cinema watching a newly released film. Games, bowling shoes, lunch and movie tickets are included in the fee.

Chill out racing down hills on the tubes or gliding on skates. During the day, we’ll warm up inside by having an amazing pizza party! Admission for tubing or ice skating and lunch are included in the fee.
