Little dancers love this enchanting adventure in dance! Children develop rhythm, grace, poise, coordination and musicality through pre-primary classical ballet, beginning tap skills, tap routines and improvisations with magical props and adorable costumes. Our dance class enriches your child in five areas of development: physical, creative, social, cognitive and emotional.

Young dancers will enjoy dancing to their favorite cherished tunes from such fairytales as “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty” and “Beauty and the Beast,” among others. They will learn ballet dances to popular classical ballets and perform in costumes. All Fairytale Ballet™ classes include a Parent Watch Day every four weeks.

Students are trained in the Royal Academy of Dance classical ballet syllabus through barre, adagio and allegro variations. Students learn tap technique to Broadway-style songs and jazz. Dancers are members of Joy of Dance’s “Show Biz Kidz” performance troupe. “Frosty Follies” rehearsals are on 10/19 and 10/26, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Young dancers are introduced to a classical ballet syllabus incorporating magical variations and dance class etiquette. Cognitive skills of counting, sequencing, spatial awareness and immersion in the French language are introduced in this class. Dancers learn tap technique and delightful song and tap routines that develop coordination, rhythm, timing and stage presence.

The Joy of Dance ballet curriculum follows the International Dance Acclaim (IDA) Program. In June, the students have a ballet examination assessed by an international examiner. They are awarded a performance certificate and medal that provides proof that they have attained an international standard of classical ballet appropriate to their ages. Ballet students this fall will perform in “Nutcracker: Sweat Treats" and a Marine Corps Toys for Tots Benefit.  Instructor: Joy of Dance Staff.
