Students advance in the Joy of Dance syllabus by training in three dance forms: classical ballet, tap and jazz/contemporary. Classical ballet training includes ballet barre, adagio and allegro combinations. Dancers are members of Joy of Dance’s “Show Biz Kidz” performance. “Frosty Follies” rehearsals are on 11/2, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

If you have never knitted before, or if you are an old hand, everyone is welcome in our Knitting Circle. You can get instructions to learn to knit, get help with something you are working on or just join us to meet other knitters and socialize. Bring your own supplies, a project in progress or purchase a beginner’s kit from the instructor for $20. Instructor: Juliana Thatcher (MCC Staff).

Tumbling will introduce students to the basics of all gymnastic skills, including work on flexibility. Students will learn forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, handstands, bridge kickovers and front walkovers. Instructor: USA Gymnastics-Certified Instructor.

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longetivity in a dance career. It provides grace, poise and the technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline and self-confidence; and they are FUN!

Pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across-the-floor combinations. Pointe class is taught by a former professional dancer.
