The theme of the 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show is “Flower Power.” It explains how a single flower can influence a person’s life forever! Believe it or not, flowers have the power to overshadow our lives in ways we never thought possible.

There will be more than 10 acres of landscapes and gardens that will illustrate how this can be true. A highlight of the show this year will be the FTD World Cup 2019 floral design competition. The World Cup is one of the highest honors a person can receive in the flower industry. Designers from more than 30 countries will present the most fabulous floral creations from around the world.

Lunch will be on your own. Sample from the plentiful food vendors at the Pennsylvania Convention Center or walk across the street to the Historic Reading Terminal Market, where selections range from Philly Cheese Steaks to homebaked Amish goodies.

As in years past, garden shoppers will be thrilled with the more than 180 dealers selling everything from garden furniture to unique plants and flowers. Horticulture, artistic culinary lectures and demonstrations by world-class experts are all free to show visitors.

The 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show promises to be both breathtaking and inspiring. Sign up early to explore the world’s greatest flower show with the best, most celebrated growers and designers.

Historic Garden Week is possibly the most beautiful time of the year in Virginia. Each spring, thousands of visitors are invited to visit over 250 gardens, homes and historic properties during “America’s Largest Open House.”

The Garden Club of Virginia members create hundreds of arrangements that are showcased in the private homes and the unforgettable gardens dazzle those who visit.  The proceeds from the tours help the restoration and preservation of Virginia’s historic public gardens and landscapes. This year, the tour goes to scenic Lynchburg and the surrounding counties. Visitors can stroll through the gardens and orchards of three small picturesque farms and explore an 1832 home relocated and restored to its original glory. Another interesting property features a cabin with a wide, welcoming porch that was created for a couple who wanted to vacation while just being home. Also of interest is a home that has been renovated and decorated by the famed designer who also lives there.

Included in the tour is a box lunch, hand painted by a local artist. Lunch choices are a chicken salad or a pimento cheese sandwich. Please indicate your choice on the check when registering.
