"Dorothy Meets Alice or The Wizard of Wonderland"

Two of literature’s most famous young ladies meet at last when a young man puts off his book report until the last minute. Suddenly in a strange place, somewhere between Oz and Wonderland, familiar characters like the Cowardly Lion, the Mad Hatter, the Scarecrow and the White Rabbit need his help to unscramble their stories and avoid the Wicked Witch and the Red Queen. This hilarious, adventurous romp is filled with laughter and surprises at every turn.

Open Auditions: Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 21 and 22, 7–9 p.m.
Callbacks (Invitation Only): Thursday, Jan. 23, 7–9 p.m.
Who can audition: Students between the ages of 10 and 16 who live in the MCC tax district (Dranesville Small District 1A)
Rehearsals: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7–9 p.m., from late January through March
Performances: Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29 and April 4-5 at 2 p.m. in The Alden

Additional rehearsals may be required if deemed necessary by the director and producer. Because making theater is a group activity, attendance at each rehearsal, tech rehearsal and performance is mandatory unless approved in advance by the producer.
If cast, there is a participation fee of $150/per actor.

Hiplet™ fuses classical pointe technique with African, Latin, Hip-Hop and urban dance styles that are rooted in communities of color. It was specifically designed to make ballet accessible to all, by mixing it with current popular songs that will be familiar to audiences who don’t normally attend ballet performances.
