Max has stepped onto a virtual stage to perform perhaps his most incredible feat ever: Getting kids truly excited about learning something and—in the process—showing them how to believe in themselves. Max has an incredible ability to connect with both children and adults alike and even in a virtual stage, he is still somehow just as captivating as he is on The Alden’s stage.

“His ability to astound is something to see” — The Huffington Post

“I’ve had the great luck of seeing Max perform numerous times and each time he is better than the last. Max 'pivoted' from in-person performing to virtual magic shows and lessons in March 2020 and has done well over 1,000 virtual magic experiences since then!" — Danielle Van Hook, Alden Youth Theatre Programs Director

"The University of Wonder & Imagination more than lived up to its name and is a fantastic example of how innovative digital theatre can deliver as engaging an experience as an in-person show, and share it with a far wider audience." — The Family Stage

“I am completely blown away by the way Cahoots NI is using the limitations of a digital stage and re-imagined what Zoom can do. The way they integrate live performers, seamless video and magic is inspiring. The hour-long performance flew by!” —Danielle Van Hook, Alden Youth Theatre Programs Director

”Look Out! Science is Coming!” Even if it is in your kitchen! Doktor Kaboom! is known around the world for taking his audience on an educational tour of the modern scientific method, using humor and comedy while demonstrating spectacular applications of the physical sciences.

"Better than Bill Nye" — DC Theatre Scene

“What I love about Doktor Kaboom is that he is a comedian who loves science. I always leave his shows with a smile on my face and the realization that I learned something new! This show will help strengthen those STEM skills, but in a way that doesn’t feel like work to a young scientist." — Danielle Van Hook, Alden Youth Theatre Programs Director

“The Joshua Show”

Saturday, March, 13, 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Purchase tickets)

Joshua Holden is a modern-day Mr. Rogers with hipster appeal! When Mr. Nichols makes an unnerving self-discovery that causes him to spiral down a path of loneliness and hopeless despair, it's up to Joshua and his cast of characters, including Larry the Lint and the Wonderbook, to show his best friend the joy in being yourself. With live music, physical comedy and multiple styles of puppetry, this whimsical show is sure to bring out everyone's joyful side.

Come discover why Joshua Holden was named one of "20 Theatre Workers You should Know" by "American Theatre" magazine.

“An unabashed “ambassador of joy,” Mr. Holden has dedicated his shows to lightening the mood of all in the theater, puppets and humans alike. Accompanied by the musician Jeb Colwell, he does this through physical comedy, oddball props, and wry commentary." — The New York Times

“While this show incorporates lovely music, dancing and puppetry, it is really Joshua’s loving spirit that shines through. Even virtually, you will feel his joyful energy!" — Danielle Van Hook, Alden Youth Theatre Programs Director
