Four Adults and Two Teens Win Seats on McLean Community Center’s Governing Board
McLean, VA— Six Dranesville Small District 1A residents have won seats on the McLean Community Center’s (MCC) 2024-2025 Governing Board. The election was held at the McLean Day 2024 festival from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 17, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Lewinsville Park. Prior to the election days, absentee voting was held from March 27 through May 13. The center, whose divisions include The Alden Theatre and the Old Firehouse Center, is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.
The Election and Nominations Committee certified the winners as:
Adults, three-year terms: Doug Jeffery, Michael Monroe and Peter Pin.
Adults, one-year, unexpired term: Ron Keesing.
Youth, one-year term—Langley High School area: Sonya Thott.
Youth, one-year term—McLean High School area: Aaron Stark.
The League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area acted as tellers. MCC Governing Board Chair Rasheq Rahman informed all candidates of the results on Saturday night and MCC presented the election results to Dranesville District Supervisor Jimmy Bierman on Monday, May 20. Bierman presented the results to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors (BOS) at its meeting on Tuesday, May 21, and the BOS certified the results.
The outgoing board’s final meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, and will be immediately followed by the incoming board’s first meeting, when the new board members will be sworn in.
