Calvin Earl brings “Music for Social Wellbeing” to McLean Central Park

McLean, Va.---The Alden at the McLean Community Center presents “The Pursuit of Happiness: Music for Social Wellbeing” with Calvin Earl at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, at the McLean Central Park Gazebo. This free concert performed by Earl, the honorary U.S. Spokesman for the African American Spiritual as a National Treasure, is appropriate for all ages. The park is located at 1468 Dolley Madison Blvd.

With music and storytelling, Earl will bring together members of the audience to engage and uplift the community’s shared humanity. Earl says the concert seeks to help people remember what they have in common and get reacquainted with their neighbors after the long COVID isolation. “Music at its core is meant to connect us to our common humanity and ignite the inner joy and love we all have within us,” he said.

Musical selections will be chosen from a diverse American musical lexicon, from spirituals to rock and roll, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy. “The goal of the concert is to allow audience members to experience music and feel like a community again. This can help them cope with the current endless volatile news cycles of painful circumstances around the world,” Earl said.
