The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers a variety of activities, events, classes, and performances every single month at the McLean Community Center building, The Alden Theatre (located at the MCC building), and The Old Firehouse Center in Downtown McLean. Furia Flamenca: “A Trip to Spain”
Sunday, Jan. 4, 2 p.m.
$25 Standard/$20 Seniors/$15 MCC district residents
Audience-favorite Furia Flamenca is back with a show for the whole family. “A Trip to Spain” introduces children to flamenco music and dance, shares some of the art form’s history and invites audience members to participate in flamenco-making.

“Pelle the Conqueror”

When his wife dies, Lasse (Max von Sydow) takes his 12-year-old son, Pelle, from their home in Sweden to Denmark in search of a better life. PG-13.

Calling Young Actors!
The Alden’s 2026 Youth Production “The Wizard of Oz” Auditions
Tuesday & Wednesday, Jan. 13 & 14, 7-9 p.m.
The spring show is The Alden’s only self-produced production of the year. Director, designers and production staff are all local, theatrical professionals. Actors must be residents of the MCC tax district between the ages of 10-16 at their audition. There is no charge to audition, but participation in the production is $150 for each actor who is cast. Actors will read from the script and perform improv games during the 15 minute audition. Sample scripts will be available 20 minutes prior to the audition time and cannot be emailed in advance. Barron Ryan Trio: “There Arises Light into the Darkness”
2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration
Sunday, Jan. 18, 2 p.m.
$15 Standard/$10 Seniors/ $7 MCC district residents
Following his triumphant performance here last season, The Alden is proud to welcome back pianist and composer Barron Ryan for a special event featuring the expanded three-part movement of a work originally commissioned by Chamber Music Tulsa for the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre. Inspired by eyewitness accounts of the massacre, Ryan’s gorgeous piano, violin and cello trio aim to bring hope to a dark time in history.

You’ll enjoy a wide variety of food, entertainment, crafts, and more at this event that's well on its way to becoming a McLean treasured tradition!

Old Firehouse 5th-6th grader parties are themed and decorated accordingly. Free catered food and beverages will be distributed to participants. Parties feature a DJ, open dance floor and a variety of activities.

This seminar provides a comprehensive guide to planning your ideal retirement.  Whether you're just starting to save or nearing retirement, this session will help you understand key strategies for building and managing your retirement nest egg. IBS Roadmap: Your Guide to a Better Digestion

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal disorder that affects 10-15% of Americans.  IBS can significantly impact a person’s quality of life, but it is manageable through dietary adjustments, stress management, and sometimes medication. Raising awareness about IBS can help those affected seek appropriate care and support. The intention of this to presentation is to provide a brief overview of the symptoms of IBS, how it is diagnosed, and what you can do to manage it.
