McLean Community Center’s Calendar of Events for September 2025
McLean, Va. — The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers the following activities in September 2025. Please check the center’s website, mcleancenter.org, for up-to-date information. Residents of the center’s tax district, Small District 1A-Dranesville, are eligible for discounts on fees. All activities are held at the center, located at 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, Va. 22101, unless otherwise noted.
Closing Notice
Labor Day
Monday, Sept. 1
The McLean Community Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, for Labor Day. The center will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at regular business hours.
MCC Governing Board
Finance Committee Meeting of the Whole
Wednesday, Sept. 3, 6:30 p.m.
MCC Finance Committee Chair Peter Pin and the full MCC Governing Board will examine the proposed FY2027 budget as presented by the MCC staff. District residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to observe; however, public comment is reserved for the Public Hearing, which will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24.

McLean Community Center is helping the American Red Cross with Diverse Blood Donations! It is urgent for donors of all ethnicities to support patients in need. Fall Community Parking Lot Sale
Saturday, Sept. 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Free admission. Held in the MCC Parking Lot
Join your friends and neighbors at the best sale of the season! Shoppers will find fabulous bargains offered by 50 vendors, including household items, electronics, clothing, music, books, children’s items, and collectibles. Visit Kids’ Row, where 5- to 15-year-olds sell their gently used treasures—toys, games, sporting equipment, and other items. Shoppers can enjoy music by a live DJ, and food and beverages will be for sale.

“Every Little Step” (2019)
Thursday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m.
Follows the plight of real-life dancers as they struggle through auditions for the Broadway revival of “A Chorus Line.” The film also illuminates the history of the show and the creative minds behind the original and revived incarnations. Running time: 1 hour, 33 minutes. Rated PG-13.
35 Years of Serving the Community!
Old Firehouse Block Party

The Old Firehouse Center is celebrating 35 years of serving the public. OFC was Fairfax County’s first fire station. Now it offers a wide variety of programs for youth, including an afterschool program, day camps, local trips and dances. This open house/festival features a variety of free games, crafts, music, food, amusements, giveaways and more! A new mural by artist Jeremy Jarvis, which was commissioned by MCC in recognition of MCC's 50th anniversary, will be dedicated at the start of this event.

Ching-Yi Lin, Piano: “Ravel at 150”

$15 Standard/$10 Seniors/$7 MCC district residents. Tickets on sale 9/2/25.
For all ages. Join internationally acclaimed pianist Ching-Yi Lin in celebrating the 150th birthday of composer Maurice Ravel—most famous for “Boléro,” but also a composer of beautiful and fiendishly difficult piano music that requires a balance of technical and artistic challenges. The recital will include works by Bach and Schumann.
MCC Governing Board
September Meeting and Public Hearing on the FY2027 Budget
Wednesday, Sept. 24, 6:30 p.m.
This hearing, which will be held in person, gives Dranesville Small District 1A residents an opportunity to review the center’s FY27 proposed budget and prepare and provide verbal and/or written comments. Residents who wish to speak at the “Public Comment” portion of the hearing are asked to call 703-790-0123, TTY:711, to have their names placed on a speakers’ list; however, signing up is not required. District residents who cannot attend the public hearing can submit written comments to the MCC Governing Board by mail (address to: McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean VA 22101), or email them to feedback@mcleancenter.org. Residents may continue to submit written comments after the public hearing through Monday, Oct. 13. The MCC Governing Board will approve the FY2027 budget at its October meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22. The final draft budget proposal will be reviewed and approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in spring 2026.
