MCC Celebrates 50 Years

McLean Community Center (MCC) celebrates its 50-year anniversary this year, and we are doing it up big! “The Center of It All” opened its doors to the public in October of 1975 and has faithfully served the residents of Dranesville Small District 1A and other patrons ever since.

50^th Anniversary Kick-Off

We started our anniversary year off with a bang! The premiere of a MCC’s 50^th Anniversary video, which highlights MCC’s current role in the community. A champagne toast and reception followed. View images here.

Commemorative Tree Planting @ Spring Fest 2025
Saturday, April 5, 10 a.m.-noon
Join us as we plant a tree to commemorate MCC’s 50 years of service.

MCC Typographical Sculpture Unveiling
Date to be determined
MCC has commissioned two public art projects to commemorate the center’s 50th Anniversary. Come witness the unveiling of the first, a typographical sculpture based on the MCC logo.

McLean Day 2025
Friday and Saturday, May 16-17
We will enhance the celebration of our yearly “party in the park,” McLean Day! Look for special 50th anniversary enhancements.

Independence Day Fireworks
Saturday, June 28, 6-10 p.m.
Langley High School Athletic Fields
This year, we will celebrate our country’s birthday and MCC’s 50^th anniversary together. Look for special enhancements.

Summer Concerts Series in McLean Central Park
June-July
Look for cool swag and other 50th Anniversary enhancements at our free summer concerts, which will now be held on Thursday evenings at the newly renovated McLean Central Park. Bring the whole family and a picnic to share.

MCC 50th Anniversary Mural Dedication @ The Old Firehouse Block Party
Saturday, Sept. 20, 1-4 p.m.
The rear wall of the Old Firehouse Center takes on new life at the unveiling of the second commissioned 50th anniversary public art project, this community mural created with the input of members of the McLean community.

Community 50^th Anniversary Celebration @ MCC
Saturday, Oct. 18, 5-10 p.m.
Music through the decades, delicious food, a signature drink and many interactive attractions are on the menu at this community celebration that offers something for everybody.
