(the) Unruly Improv is The Alden’s professional teen improv company dedicated to bringing comedic performances to the community. Members audition to be in the company and are paid for each performance or workshop they do for the community. UTP won 1st place at Improvicon of Northern Virginia in 2022, 2023 and 2025—and were the only teen group competing!

An opportunity for teens to get paid to perform!
(the) Unruly Theatre Project is The Alden’s professional teen improv company dedicated to bringing comedic performances to the community. Teen company members are paid for performances and community programs.
Company members rehearse twice a week from late September through May on Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Performances are at local venues such as art galleries, the Old Firehouse Center and cafés. Because UTP is a professional opportunity, attendance is crucial and company members serve various roles, including marketing, stage management and photography.
9th-12th Graders Only
Open Auditions: Tuesday-Wednesday, Sept. 23-24, 7-9 p.m.
Call Backs/Interviews: Thursday, Sept. 25, beginning at 7 p.m.
Preregistration is recommended and will be available on UTP’s website. Prepared monologues are not needed. Headshots and resumes are not necessary but are welcome. Questions? Email: alden@mcleancenter.org.

Free Improv Workshops
Workshops are designed for the age group of those attending and provide an opportunity for participants to learn about the art form as well as teamwork, communication and creativity! Groups are not limited to only the younger ones, they can be scout troops at any level, young professional groups or even senior citizen groups! Generally, workshops are hosted by 3-4 members of UTP and include improv games as well as mini-performances by the company members.
