GERD: Understanding Acid Reflux

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a chronic digestive condition estimated to have a prevalence in 20% of adults. When people have GERD, stomach acid or bile flows back into the esophagus, leading to symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, and difficulty swallowing.  The purpose of this presentation is to educate the community about GERD and help individuals recognize symptoms early and seek appropriate treatment. We will also touch on GERD lifestyle modifications and management options.  Presented by Medstar Gastroenterology
