McLean Earth Day – Act Locally

This drive-through environmental action event is designed to provide McLean residents with an opportunity to divert items from landfills and create a healthier planet through shredding, reusing, recycling and replenishing. The event includes document shredding (up to five file boxes—no clips please), bike donations, bulk and household item donations and more. Don’t leave without your free gifts!

Program Details
  • Document Shredding
    On-site document shredding for up to 5 file boxes per household.
    No clips please.
  • E-Waste Collection (COUNTY)
    Accepting the following items: Hard Drives, CD's, DVD'S, USB, SD Card, Keyboard/Mice, Data Tapes, Phones, Tablets, Modems, Routers,
    Flat Screen/Tube TV's, Computer Monitors, Printers, Scanners, Faxes.
  • Paint Collection (COUNTY)
    On-site paint collection for up to 10 cans of paint per household.
  • Eyeglass collection (COUNTY)
    On-site eyeglass collection to be taken to Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Center of Northern VA
  • Bulk/Household Items
    College Hunks has partnered with Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill and will accept bulk or functional household items (furniture, clothing, school supplies, and technology).
  • Wheels 2 Africa
    Wheels 2 Africa will collect used bicycles to help under-resourced communities in Africa and the U.S.
Giveaways at the event:
  • Tree Whips
    Bartlett Tree Experts will provide tree whips for residents to take with them and plant at home.
  • Pollinator Seeds
    MCC will provide seed packets to hand out to residents to take with them and plant at home.

Free admission. Only MCC district residents. Registration is required.
