McLean Community Center Calendar of Events for November 2024
McLean, Va.— The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers the following activities in November 2024. Please check the center’s website, mcleancenter.org, for up-to-date information. Residents of the center’s tax district, Small District 1A-Dranesville, are eligible for discounts on fees. All activities are held at the center, located at 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, Va. 22101, unless otherwise noted.

The Judy Carmichael Trio
Sunday, Nov. 3, 2 p.m.
$30/$25 students and seniors/$20 MCC district residents
A stride pianist so accomplished that Count Basie gave her the nickname “Stride,” Judy Carmichael is more than just a great jazz musician in the style of Fats Waller. She’s an enchanting performer and sharp as a tack. Many will know her from her public radio show “Judy Carmichael’s Jazz Inspired,” and she brings the same charm, warmth and humor to the stage. The program will celebrate swing favorites of the American Songbook, from Gershwin and Cole Porter to Frank Loesser and Harold Arlen.
Old Firehouse Center
Indoor Waterpark
Monday, Nov. 4, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
$90/$80 MCC district residents
Let’s go swimming! Join us as we head to an indoor water park. What’s better than going down water slides or relaxing in a lazy river/wave pool? Water park admission and chartered transportation is included in the fee. Bring at least $20 dollars for lunch and a towel and dry clothes for the ride home. Bring additional money for snacks and souvenirs as desired.

Tuesday, Nov. 5
The McLean Community Center and the Old Firehouse Center will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 5, for Election Day. The centers will reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at regular business hours.

McLean Antiques Show & Sale
Saturday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Admission: $10; free admission for children/teens up to age 17. Good for both days.
Discover fine antiques, art and collectibles, as well as the unusual, from scores of reputable dealers at this highly celebrated show of almost 50 years. The show features antiques, mid-century, decorative accessories, furniture, folk art, porcelain, silver, jewelry, paintings and prints, glass, carpets, vintage clothing and much more. Billboard chart-topping recording artist, Fulbright scholar and worldwide performer, Adam Levin, brings a beautiful and thoughtful concert to our chamber music series. Levin’s repertoire and expertise span J.S. Bach to contemporary Spanish music. Plus, he’s a professor, so you know the commentary will be enlightening.

Holiday Gingerbread House Decorating
Saturday, Nov 23, 10 a.m.-Noon
Admission: $45/$35 MCC district residents
Celebrate the holidays with us! Families decorate a gingerbread house to make their own one-of-kind designs. We’ll supply a pre-built house, frosting and traditional and not-so-traditional toppings. Price is per gingerbread house. Please Note: Parental supervision is required for children ages 16 years and younger. Products may contain dairy, gluten, eggs and other allergens.
